Biden's Middle East Tour: Tail Wags the Dog (Muqtedar Khan, USA, 07/19/22 10:54 am)Dear Friends, here is the next episode of Khanversations.
Tails Wag the Weak Dog | Review of Biden's Middle East Tour:

This Khanversation reviews President Biden's Middle East Tour. It explores why Biden was forced to abandon the core of his foreign policy and what the implications of this trip are to the region, for American economy and inflation for the future of Saudi-Israeli alliance and for Palestinian aspirations.
JE comments: In his 12-minute reflections, Muqtedar Khan gives a scathing appraisal of Biden's trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia. In the former, Biden spoke only of Israeli interests (not US interests), and in the latter, he clearly abandoned his human rights priorities to kowtow to MBS, in the hope that the Saudis will increase oil production.
I have nothing to add in the way of a "however," but it could be argued that lower fuel prices are immediately in US interests. And indirectly, in those of Ukraine: continued rampant inflation in the US would make it cut off war supplies faster than anything else.
