UK Home Secretary on Rising Anti-Semitism (John Heelan, -UK, 01/19/15 11:39 am)The "British Jewish gathering" to which Luciano Dondero refers (19 January) was organised by the Board of Deputies of British Jews--the UK's senior and highly politically influential Jewish community body, roughly equivalent to the US "Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations." As such, all leading politicians will court this body prior to the 2015 election not only for donations but also to gain political preference amongst its members. (Theresa May might have provided a hostage to political fortune by allowing herself to be photographed holding a sign "Je Suis Juif.")

JE comments: A prediction: The biggest English language innovation of 2015 will be "Je suis X." Already we've seen Charlie, Ahmed, and now Juif. "Je suis X" will enter the permanent idiom phrasebook, alongside Saddam Hussein's "mother of all X" construction and the venerable "-gate" suffix to denote a scandal.
