Postre: Energy: Gasoline Price Reports (Bienvenido Macario and Gene Franklin) (John Eipper, USA, 08/24/08 6:05 am)
Here are some gasoline price updates:
From Bienvenido Macario (Philippines/US):
As of Saturday, 08-23-08, the price of gas in Corona, CA (Riverside
County) is as follows:
Wholesale Membership Club
87 Octane - $3.799/gallon
91 Octane - $3.999
A gas station chain known for its low prices:
87 Octane - $3.779
89 Octane - $3.879
91 Octane - $3.979
It's been said that this company gets its oil supply from domestic sources and
does not advertise as much as the other oil companies.
From Gene Franklin (US):
I just filled up near the Stanford Campus where standard unleaded was
$4.18/gal and 91 octane is $4.42.
JE comments: We all know that life is pricey at Stanford. Bienvenido
Macario and Gene Franklin have shown that vast price differences exist
even within the same state. I cannot remember what I paid yesterday
in Boston (we're now back in Michigan)--somewhere in the $3.70s range.
To broaden this topic a bit: how much will the (slight) easing in
gas prices benefit the McCain campaign? Rage over $4 + gasoline was
clearly working in Obama's favor. Now I hear no one complaining.
