PostGreetings from Orlo Steele (Orlo Steele, USA, 11/05/18 3:04 am)
What a pleasant surprise it was for me to receive the thoughtful birthday greetings from Bienvenido Macario and John E (October 28th). A true serendipity.
Please excuse my delay in responding. My wife Cathy and I spent the last week at our time-share outside of Carson City, Nevada. I have no means to receive e-mails while on travel; thus did not open your greetings until we returned yesterday. I am also proud to say that I share 28 October with the birth date of our British brethren--the Royal Marines.
Oh, how well I too remember 1968. Not just because of Vietnam and Hue City, but also for all the tragic events that took place here in the US. On the positive side, October 1968 was when I reported for duty to the NROTC Unit at Dartmouth College. What a memorable experience that was for my family and for me.
Again, my sincere thanks to you both for your kind thoughts and words.
JE comments: And thank you for your gracious note, Orlo. October 28th is also Aldona's and my wedding anniversary. A genuine red-letter day!
