PostMourning Robert Gibbs; Funeral Arrangements (Massoud Malek, USA, 06/08/17 9:10 pm)
One of my Buddhist friends described the four stages of life as the four phases in a metamorphosis, like the transformation of a caterpillar into a confined pupa or cocoon into a beautiful butterfly.
I believe that this earthly life is just a dream that can't last forever. At some point, we must wake up and get ready to enter into a new dream. Hindus call this phase of metamorphosis a reincarnation.
Colonel Robert Gibbs was one of the few WAISers whose frank, feisty and informative posts affected and nourished my mind and spirit.
After reading that Bob's soul left his earthly body in this confined world, and started a journey in a beautiful and pleasing universe. I felt sadness and emptiness.
JE comments: Some of my best memories of WAIS '13 (Adrian) are our chats with Robert Gibbs and Massoud Malek. Bob and Massoud didn't see eye to eye on politics or policy, but they were joined by something of far more substance: friendship and respect.
Bob will have a full military funeral at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S 240th Street, Kent, Washington, at 2 PM on June 14th. (My thanks to Rose Gibbs for the information.)
